There are weeks of gameplay here if you have any enthusiasm for one of the following: I've never encountered a more beautiful, Exciting, varied, surprising game world.Īnd yes, there are some unfinished features, but this is still a better game unfinished than almost anything else I've ever played.
KENSHI REVIEW 2019 PLUS
All about long term perspective in Kenshi.I've got about 300 hours on this, so yeah, I'm biased.īut holy crapsticks, there's only half of the map open right now plus I have to play on the lowest graphics settings and it's still stunning. So there's many options available for you.
KENSHI REVIEW 2019 SKIN
I'm a traveling bard in the game but I was a skin farmer selling to the skin traders. It's desolate and barebones so you have to build yourself slowly to reach your goals. If you ever consider Kenshi in the future then always try to keep in mind the beginning is how the world is around you. If the people in the world won't kill you the animals will almost most certainly will. It's all your long term perspective Kenshi because you need to have a long term perspective in order to see where you want to go with character and how you'll build your character (or characters) from there on out.Īlso if you're going out don't forget to take friends with you because it's a brutal world. Do you want to start shit and be a bum? You can do that too.

Do you want to become a warrior with a noble (or un-noble depends what you want) cause? Then slowly follow where the army will be and start by attacking lower enemies and build yourself from there. Do you want become a trader? start making effective trading resources and connections at the shops and build your character like that. You're a nobody in Kenshi and that's how the game treats you as well. The game opens up more and more as you start to progress your skills but you have to remember that you start off as nothing. In Kenshi you really need to build yourself internally from within the walls before you can set out because everyone around you WILL kill you instantly. I think the mistake you made was to go out of town that early. I created a band of super monks who did not use any weapons and only beat people down in hand to hand combat, then bandaged them up so they could beat them up again.īut not everyone is going to like it, it's certainly a niche game. But Kenshi in the end is a sandbox game, it doesn't force you to do anything, you set your own goals and then try and accomplish them.
KENSHI REVIEW 2019 MODS
Mods help with the end game, there are a couple thousand of them, so you can have crazy stuff happening later on. At the very least it's far better than it was several years ago. It does still have glitches but given how open ended the world is that's sort of to be expected. The only time I've really been annoyed by the micro is when I have multiple parties scattered across the map doing different things but that's really a personal preference thing. You can also set behaviors such as setting your medic to be passive (not engage in fighting) and to automatically treat anyone nearby. You can set behaviors to your guys in base so they automatically produce stuff. Give it another go sometime man, it's a great game! I'll admit that the game is niche, and the technical issues are off putting. The game is rough, but I think that there is an incredible gaming experience to be had beyond the rough edges. You tried to be a good citizen, but the crazy bastards still tried to punish you. A direction that you could go from there is allying with the Shek or UC to eventually get revenge on the Holy Nation. I guess it's sort of like making your own headcanon.

With the whacky glitches like the one you described I try to just make it fun and part of the experience. There's so many hidden factions to encounter, beautiful landscapes to see, and tough enemies to fight. You're given this big world with all of these different challenges and factions to overcome, so the game really is what you make of it. I've personally resorted to setting autosaves every 3 minutes, but this is certainly a big flaw in the game.Īs far as the lack of direction goes - it's a sandbox game so that's sort of the appeal. You can assign someone to mine, for instance, and then they'll automatically mine that node and drop off their resources in an ore bin if you have one. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but one thing that really cuts down on the micromanagement in the game is shift right-clicking on things to assign jobs. I have about 250 hours in the game, but I love it more than any game in recent memory.
